The EU will continue further checks into the Sudan Dyes threat. A number of products have been removed from retailer’s shelves and food supplier’s as the dye is a suspected genotoxic carcinogen (could cause cancer).
The Food Standards Agency is working with a number of Local Authorities to stop the supply of the dye, normally used as a red colouring in chilli powder, chilli products or curry powder.
